About
A small press for other people's trips.
WayFolio is an initiative of Decoded Systems. We started it because the good photography apps ended their lives in the cloud, and the good trips deserve to end on a shelf.
What we believe, briefly.
A travel photo book is not a product category. It's an object. Objects age well only when they're made of decent materials, bound by hands that know what they're doing, and typeset with care. We don't think that's a romantic position — we think it's what you expect from a $149 book, and the current consumer-grade options mostly don't deliver it.
So WayFolio is our answer to the question, what does a photobook look like when you don't cut the corners a subscription startup would cut? Heavier paper. Thread-sewn sections. Typography laid by a designer. A 72-hour proof so you actually see what you're buying before you're on the hook for it.
We ship ten books a week. We'd rather ship ten good ones than a thousand mediocre ones.
Who we are.
A two-person operation of a designer and a bookbinder, working out of a studio in the Pacific Northwest. We've collectively spent twenty-three years between Chronicle Books, Phaidon, two small independent presses, and one regrettable stint making wedding albums. We were trained to make books. We kept making books.
Decoded Systems is our parent company. It is also the parent of Oryn, WaveSuite, and Proficiency Path — three unrelated products with the same ethos: make the thing you'd want to use, price it fairly, and do the unglamorous work of production well.
Where we ship.
Anywhere the post goes. US orders ship from the Pacific Northwest; international orders ship from a partner bindery in Portugal so customs doesn't eat six weeks of your life. International details live on the pricing page.
How to reach us.
The fastest way to ask a question is the contact form. We answer within one business day. No automated triage, no tiered support — your email lands in the same inbox as ours.
